GRIZZLIES BASEBALL ACADEMY 2010 CAGE BALL RULES
HAVE FUN, GET BETTER, AND GOOD LUCK!
Below are the official cage ball rules at Grizzlies Baseball Academy.
The rules are very simple. There will be no exceptions unless instituted by a Grizzlies Baseball Academy Umpire due to some unforeseen situation.
- Teams are allotted 50 minutes to finish a standard 9 inning game. This means that a new inning will not start after the 50 minute timer has gone off. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
- Each inning will be based on the regular rules of baseball. Each team will get the normal three outs per inning before having to switch to the opposing team.
- Each hitter will start with a 0-0 count. Standard foul ball rules apply. There are no “foul ball strike outs”.
- What is ruled a “Hit” and what is ruled an “Out”?
- Any ball that hits the top of the cages is an automatic out.
- If a ball is batted up the middle of the cage and bounces one time before hitting the back of the cage, it is ruled a single. More than one bounce before striking the back of the cage is an automatic out.
- A ball that is batted on the ground into the side nets is an automatic out.
- Any batted ball that hits the pro batter projection screen on the fly or no more than one bounce is an automatic single. Any batted ball that hits the pro batter projection screen after bouncing more than one time is an automatic out.
- On the back nets, what qualifies as a double will be posted. Batted ball must strike on the fly.
- On the side nets, what qualifies as a double will be posted. Batted ball must strike on the fly
- There are no triples in cage ball.
- On the back nets, what qualifies as a home run will be posted. Batted ball must strike on the fly.
- On the side nets, what qualifies as a home run will be posted. Batted ball must strike on the fly.
**If a ball is batted and hits a “hit designation line”, that line’s respective value will be awarded.**
Commissioner’s Note
- While competition is good and encouraged, cage ball is meant to be fun and instructional as well.
- The Grizzlies Baseball Academy Referee assigned to your respective game has the final word should a dispute arise over rules and/or scoring.
- In the event of unsportsmanlike conduct such as abusive language, arguing, etc., penalties towards the offending teams score are applicable. Those penalties will be implemented by the Grizzlies Baseball Academy Referee as they deem necessary and just.
- Fighting is an automatic ejection and forfeit. Fighting will not be tolerated and will be dealt with by Grizzlies Baseball Academy Management.
